This site arises out of a publication Craft Unbound: Make the Common Precious, which also formed the basis of an exhibition that toured to Santiago, Chile. You can read the introduction here. Craft Unbound continues the exploration of new developments in contemporary craft, particularly related to the movement of 'poor craft'. 'Poor craft' is used here as a term to describe the creative strategy of using materials that have little or no value. It is a style that has been important in recent Australian contemporary craft, but resonates also with practices elsewhere, particularly in the South. |
